My first trip to India in 2006 was a trip to remember. When traveling a little less, it was quite an experience. I landed in the city of Mumbai where my brother and girlfriend were involved in a number of projects. There we went, on the way to their house in two black taxis, me in the rear and my bright red suitcase on the roof of the front taxi. We maneuvered our way through the chaos in the traffic: tuk-tuks from the left, an elephant from the right, sellers with all kinds of goods at our window. Three years ago in Jaipur, I remember the stately forts and palaces next to slums where locals did the laundry with a play of colors of cloths and clothing. Constant stimulation of your senses in scents, colors and the taste of delicious curries. In Goa, there was a completely different atmosphere with its endless palm coasts, golden beaches, and old Portuguese colonial houses. For me, India is a country of extremes with intense travel experiences, both physically and internally.

The further north you come here, the more you get the feeling that you have arrived in Tibet or Bhutan. When you travel north from Delhi, the landscape changes rapidly and colorful sarees, holy cows and forts give way to monks in red robes, colorful prayer flags, and monasteries. The provinces of Ladakh and Sikkim can easily be combined with the other building blocks in North India.
Delhi is also an excellent base for a holiday to Nepal. Here you can do short building blocks in the Kathmandu valley or combine them with the rhinos of Chitwan National Park, a flight to Mount Everest or trekking in the mountains. You can then fly back to Delhi.
South India
The north of India already offers so many possibilities that many travelers stick to the north for the first trip. A combination with the south is of course also possible, for example, if you want to end your trip on a nice beach. You can go to Goa, Kerala or all the way to the Maldives. Keep in mind the climate in the period in which you travel.
The south also offers enough options for a complete trip. In addition to relaxed beaches, you will find backwaters in Kerala where you can spend the night on a houseboat, jungle where you can spot all kinds of animals, tea plantations and the most beautiful temples. You can take a day train on a few routes. Nice to see India from the rails instead of the road. For
longer distances, we recommend that you take a domestic flight or a (night) train. The train is a nice
